Dr. Tarun Jayakumar completed a fellowship in hip and knee arthroplasty at St John of God Hospital in Perth under the mentorship of Dr. Gavin Clark and Dr. Dermot Collopy.
Training included exposure to the MAKO 4 robotic platform for total knee and total hip arthroplasty. The programme covered contemporary approaches to primary hip replacement, including mini-posterior and direct anterior approach (DAA) techniques, together with the planning principles that support accurate component positioning.
Complex revision hip arthroplasty using the THA 5.0 revision planning system added further depth to the experience. The fellowship strengthened an approach centred on detailed pre-operative planning, careful execution, technology-aware judgement and ongoing academic exchange.
