About Dr. Tarun Jayakumar

Dr. Tarun graduated as the best outgoing post-graduate from one of the most prestigious government orthopaedic training institutes in Karnataka. His extensive training has provided him with exposure to a wide array of sub-specialities, including spine surgery, hand surgery, plastic surgery, paediatric surgery, arthroscopy, and arthroplasty. He is proficient in ATLS protocols and experienced in managing polytrauma patients in high-stress environments.

Following his post-graduation, Dr. Tarun completed his senior residency and rural service in Chamarajanagar, where he independently managed patients from admission through surgery to discharge and follow-up. He has conducted numerous camps and awareness programs in rural areas to provide healthcare to underserved populations.

Dr. Tarun furthered his speciality training at one of India’s largest joint replacement centres, gaining substantial surgical experience and expertise in managing complex primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty surgeries. He earned his fellowship in arthroplasty and robotic joint replacement surgery under the mentorship of the esteemed Dr. A V Gurava Reddy at Sunshine Hospitals, Hyderabad. He had the opportunity to work with esteemed faculty members from around the globe further enhancing his surgical expertise and expanding his knowledge of advanced orthopaedic techniques.

After recognizing the importance of specialized care in orthopedic rheumatology, Dr. Tarun pursued a fellowship in this field under the Indian Orthopedic Rheumatology Association. This enabled him to better understand and treat both inflammatory and non-inflammatory rheumatologic conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system.

To further explore his interest in robotics and personalized alignment strategies, he was invited to a clinical fellowship in Japan. There, he had the opportunity to work with one of the world’s leading experts in personalized Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty (UKA) and Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA), Professor Hiranaka Takafumi, at Takatsuki General Hospital in Osaka. This experience significantly sharpened his surgical skills and enhanced his understanding of the subject.

Currently, he works as a consultant at KIMS-Hospitals, Gachibowli, where he routinely performs trauma, primary and revision robotic joint replacement surgeries. He is certified in multiple robotic platforms for joint replacement. He is also actively involved in research, academics, and teaching programs for arthroplasty fellows from around the world.
